2019: Saraki, Dogara, others pull out of talks with Presidency

The leadership of the new Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, the splinter group from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that coalesced with All Progressives Congress, APC, to give victory to President Muhammadu Buhiari in 2015, has withdrawn from further talks with the Presidency on how to win the next general elections.

The group, led by Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, said in Abuja, yesterday, that they had since discovered that the Presidency was not sincere in its discussion with the group but was actively negotiating with them in bad faith.

Baraje in a statement made available to newsmen, yesterday, pointed out that it was wrong for the Presidency to embark on series of provocative actions with key members of the nPDP while the negotiations were ongoing.

Baraje pointed to the withdrawal of the security aides of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and his House of Representatives counterpart, Yakubu Dogara, by the Presidency at the weekend barely a few days after their meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the way forward for the two parties.
