Emulation
speaks of striving to be like somebody else or struggling to be equal with
another. This implies not being satisfied with whom you are and what you have
to the point that you crave to be like some other person. Emulation usually
manifests in rivalry, criticizing and condemning another.
There is
nothing wrong in admiring a person’s talents, gift and achievements. There is
nothing wrong in wanting to learn from someone who is on the same career path
or has gone ahead in a thing you have set out to achieve, but does your
admiring a person lead to obsession, lust and anger? Do you think of pulling
down that person so can rise to that level?
This is one
common occurrence in the world today. You see staffs lying to owners of company
so they can get their superiors sacked and take their position, Brothers
pulling down brothers for favours in the home, even church members talking bad
about the leaders of their ministry just so they can take the position. This is
not a character worthy of a man or woman of vision.
As a person
with vision, you should appreciate one another and highlight your merits, not
your shortcomings. Help others improve on their short comings not broadcasting
their flaws for the world to see.
Rather than
join the crowd to accuse a person because they are not perfect like the scribes
and Pharisees in John 8:1-11, think of ways to be a better you. Check yourself
in the mirror of Galatians 5:20-21, be alert, make amends and straighten your
weak points accordingly.

WORDS OF WISDOM: Pulling a
person down means they are in front of you, why not improve yourself and be
better.
