“Therefore my people are gone
into captivity, because they have no knowledge…” Isaiah 5:13
It is popularly said that
knowledge is power, but I would like to add today that knowledge is freedom.
The first and second sentences of Isaiah 5:13 say “Therefore my people are gone
into captivity, because they have no knowledge…” In other words, many
people are limited because they do not know what to do, or many people are
suffering because they are clueless, many people are in prison because they are
straightly put –IGNORANT, many people are in bondage because they have refused
to study.
The first part of 2 Timothy 2:15
says tells us clearly; “Study to shew thyself approved…” In
other words, if you must receive approval, you must be full of knowledge.
One way you can acquire knowledge
except by Studying. Don’t be lazy,
there are many materials full of information today that can help liberate you
from captivity and transform your life, but how will you know these information
if you don’t study. By the way, it is not just anything called information that
you read and more importantly, the Bible is the first book, that contains all
the necessary ingredients to transform your life, but because you have refused
to study, you still find yourself at a state that is nothing short of
captivity.
Many times through the New
Testament, Jesus asked “…have ye not read?” In other words,
did you search for knowledge? Some examples, when confronted about the case of
Marriage in Matthew 19, when the scribes asked about resurrection in Mark 12,
Jesus asked that question. And many more times. He went further by saying in
Mark 12:24 where the Bible says “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye
not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures…” That is saying,
reason you make blunders and stumble, the reason you are in the captivity of
sin is you do not know the scriptures, you lack knowledge, and you have refused
to study.
Hosea 4:6a: “My people are destroyed for lack
of knowledge…”
