“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy
country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I
will shew thee:” (Genesis 12:1)
Every
Christian is entitled to the promises of God as contained in the Bible, the
very first man God made a promise to was Abraham, he was promised a land
flowing with milk and honey: this promise was to bring great blessing to
humanity. The interesting thing about
this promise is that God made it without considering the fact that Abraham came
from a family where worshiping of idols was a way of life, there was
practically no Christian in his family that could lead him to God,
notwithstanding this gap, God revealed His identity, His unique nature,
character and His promise to Abraham.
One fact we must acknowledge in
today’s teaching is that the revelation of God’s full identity and his promises
to Abraham was not dependent on his background or family history. Before God
revealed himself and his promises to Abraham, Abraham had taken a stand for God; a decision distinct from the popular one of idolatry. The bible says in Ezra 10:11 “Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and
do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land...” If you say you are a Christian separate yourself from the mixed crowd,
let there be a difference between you and an unbeliever because the revelation
of God’s promise in your life is dependent on your personal stand for Christ.
A promise is an assurance to
bring to pass the expectation of another, the promise of God can be given an
added credibility if a sacrificial stand is taken. Your decision today to
partake in the promises of God can be achieved when you take a bold step to
stand for Christ, you need to transform and form your life in order for you to
receive the spirit of God and to be able to perceive and know the promises of
God.
For the bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:12 “Now
we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
If you are the only Christian in
your family, ensure to take your stand for Christ. God will multiply you in your
family, the glory of His light will shine upon your family, it will touch your
family. Don’t turn from it; take your stand; refuse to worship idols; for the God
you serve is a mighty God.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Today, I make a decision to
separate myself from sin and to transform myself with the word of God that I
may be partaker of the promises of the Lord. Nothing can separate me from the
love of Christ and from manifesting my expectation.
