#EaglesDevotional - WALKING IN DOMINION 1

“… And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule over them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” Revelation 19:15

“To walk” is to “move from place to place by the help of your legs” while “Dominion” means “to exercise authority over a person or situation”. Walking in dominion therefore means to move forward by exercising authority. In Genesis 2 when God created man, one of the first mandates God gave to man was “...Exercise dominion…”, God has set in every believer adequate gifts and talents that are supposed to help him move forward in life. You must exercise your authority because there is a spiritual resistance to your going forward, the devil is bent on frustrating and preventing you from utilizing your inherent potentials. As a matter of fact, he doesn’t even want you to know that you are so gifted and talented.

Exodus 14 is a very good example of how the devil stops men from going forward. Israel had already come out of Egypt but as they got to the Red Sea, they discovered that they could proceed no further seeing they were surrounded by the red sea in front of them, mountains and Pharaoh’s chariots from behind. In desperation they began to cry out.

Firstly, God said to Moses: “…Speak to the children of Israel that they go forward” (Exodus 14:15). In every resistant situation, a word from God is the foundation on which your dominion stands. God’s word build your confidence, give you courage to fight and shows you victory point. Get hold of God’s word in your heart. Secondly, God called him and said: “But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea...” (Exodus 15:16) God was trying to get Moses to exercise authority and take dominion over the Red Sea with the very thing He had equipped Moses with. Don’t undermine the gift of God within you; it could be praise, prayer, your commitment, talent. It’s a tool/sword for dominion.

Revelation 19:15 says: “… And out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule over them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

The sword here refers to the words of your mouth. Use your sword (words), speak to the Red Sea and to the mountains in your life.  Exercise your authority.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: My life must go forward. My gifts, talents and abilities will manifest in Jesus
WORDS OF WISDOM: When God starts a journey with you there is no retreat.
