#EaglesDevotional - THE GIANT OF COMPROMISE

"For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father". (I Kings 11:4)
King Solomon compromised his faith when he was old as stated in the above text.
To 'compromise' simply means "weakening what you believe by lowering your standard". Compromise is a giant and it has the ability to pull you down . Have no doubts about that.
Solomon married 1000 women from different nations believing that by so doing the respective nations will not wage war against him. But he was wrong.  The giant of compromise is very subtle. It is not like fear or unbelief. For instance, you do not smoke but you sell or buy for others and also help them to light it. You are compromising your faith.

There are Christians who claim that at occasions like weddings, birthdays or children dedication, reception parties they are in order to provide alcoholic drinks. Do you think Christian men who are committing adultery cultivated the habit overnight? It is a gradual process. It is perhaps through evil communication with bad friends. Many times such friendship is being taken for granted. Think about the corruption that comes out of such relationships.
At all times, always remember who you are in Christ
"… for ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light". (I Peter 2:9.)
Do not join the crowd. When you compromise, you are unwittingly compromising your destiny in effect. And sometime you compromise your character and faith also. Solomon began to reign in peace but ended in war because he compromised and because of that, God divided his kingdom.
In I Kings 11:11 “… I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant…And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.” (I Kings 11:14.)
When you refuse to compromise, you remain in grace
Prayer/Confession: By the grace of God, I will not compromise my faith in God.
