“And Samuel
said, Hath the Lord as great delight in
burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to
obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams” 1 Samuel 15:22.
Obedience is a key that unlocks the door of
your destiny. Obedience will either make you or break you in the journey of
your destiny. Your obedience will release you into your destiny, but
disobedience will take your destiny from you.
In Romans
5: 19, the Bible says, “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous” verse 18 says, “Therefore as by
the offence of one judgment came upon
all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto
justification of life”
In verse 17, “ For if by one man's offence death reigned
by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ”
Disobedience robbed the human race of destiny
but the obedience of Christ restored back your destiny. Disobedience destroys
but obedience brings fulfillment. The difference between David and Saul was
obedience and disobedience.
In 1 Samuel 13, Saul was going to battle with
Israel. He was instructed not to make the sacrifice needed for battle. He
waited for Samuel for 7 days, when he didn’t see Samuel, he made the sacrifice.
Immediately he finished, Samuel appeared. He disobeyed the prophet of God.
In another
instance in 1 Samuel 15, Saul was instructed to go to the Amalekites and kill
every living thing. He went, killed everything except the king. He made
exceptions because he felt he knew more than God. In 1 Samuel 15:23, Samuel
said, “For rebellion is as
the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as
iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath
also rejected thee from being king”. In verse 28, Samuel said, “...The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath
given it to a neighbour of thine, that is
better than thou”
In other words, Saul, this day, the kingdom of
Israel has been taken from you and you have lost your destiny. He lost his
destiny by his disobedience.
You must be very careful the way you live your
life. How do you handle instructions that are given to you? It would affect
your destiny. Obey everyone whom God has placed in authority over you because
it is your obedience that would preserve your destiny.
Prayer/Confession: In the name of Jesus, every
root of disobedience and rebellion in my life, be uprooted by fire in the name
of Jesus. if by the offence of one the whole human race was condemned, by the
obedience of one, I have been set free, my destiny must be fulfilled in the
name of Jesus.
