#EaglesDevotional - MATURITY IN FAITH

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”                               1 Peter 2:2

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “...i will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it...” Jesus is building himself a wife. Jesus is the bridegroom, the church is His bride. If you are a child of God, you are a part of that bride. When he is through, He will present His bride to himself without spot or wrinkles.

It is impossible for a thirty year old man cannot marry a seven year old child for many reasons, one is because that child would not be able to communicate with him; there would be nothing to discuss about and marriage is based on communication. Many times, Jesus cannot communicate with His bride because His bride(the church) is too immature. He wants to communicate with his bride but his bride cannot understand Him. There is so much immaturity in the church today and its a big problem. It is limiting the hand of God in the church.

When you are immature, or when you lack understanding, you are a child. In 1 Corinthians 14:20, Apostle Paul said, Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men”
When there is immaturity in the church, it is a hindrance and the church cannot move forward. It is immaturity and lack of understanding that makes Christians fight each other.
In 1 Peter 2:2, the Bible saysAs newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”

It is the will of God for you to grow and not remain as a child in faith. You can only grow when you desire and practice the word of God. Most of the time, as a believer, life would challenge you and your maturity will be tested. It would be tested by your ability to be corrected. When some persons are corrected of their wrongs, they get angry, some even backslide and leave the ministry.

You maturity would be tested by how you relate to people, your actions and reactions. It is not how long you have being in faith that determines your maturity. It is how you can apply the word of God practically to every given situation that determines maturity. E.g if when you just gave your life to Christ, you had a bad temper and five years afterwards, you still have not been able to use God’s word to overcome that temper, you are still a baby.

Jesus is not coming for an immature church, He wants to present to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27).

Prayer/Confession: I refuse to be a child that i may access my heavenly inheritance. O Lord, grant me the grace that daily, i would practically live according to your word in the name of Jesus.
