“Be strong
and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all
the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our
battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of
Judah” 2 Chronicles 32:7-8 .
In 2 Kings
18,19 and 2 Chronicles 29, 30, 31, 32:1-23, the Bible tells us of King Hezekiah.
He became king of Judah at 25 years of age. His father was an idol worshipper.
As soon as he became king, he began to destroy all the idols. If you
have any special thing anybody gave you for protection, if you are in a cult,
society, or have charms gather it and burn it because it will fail you. Take a
stand for Jesus today and He will stand for you.
Immediately
King Hezekiah destroyed the idols, the Assyrians were inspired by the devil to
attack king Hezekiah because he knew that physically, Hezekiah’s army was not
strong enough. If you
were the one in king Hezekiah’s shoes, that you destroy your juju or the thing
you used to trust in and immediately after the destruction, temptation comes,
what would you do? Most persons would run back to the idols that they have
destroyed. Never run back, take a stand for God and God will stand up for you.
The king
of Assyria was so bold that he wrote a letter to God. A human being wrote a
letter to God because he served a juju/god whom they sacrifice human beings to.
He taught his juju/god was so strong. See 2 Kings 19:14. King Hezekiah took the letter to the altar of God and opened it to
God. You cannot say you are following God and have juju in one part of your life;
or you are living in sin.
Anytime
they threaten you, do not run from God, go to God. Anytime man seems to fight
you, go to God. Lay down every threat against you before God. Trust God
for your protection not man or idols. Paul said, be strong in the Lord and in
the power of His might. You must be bold
and fearless.( the righteous are as bold as lion) When King
Hezekiah ran to God, God sent an angel who smote all the soldiers of the
Assyrians and the king of Assyria went back in shame.
Prayer/Confession: O
Lord,my trust is in you. Let me not be ashamed. Let not my enemies triumph over
me in the name of Jesus.
