“And they rose
early in the morning … Jehoshaphat stood and said … Believe in the LORD your
God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the
people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty
of holiness….” (2 Chron. 20:20-22)
Jehoshaphat
consulted with the people and appointed singers to praise the beauty of God’s
holiness. This was at a time when he should be panicking because of the
strongest alliance of nations, at the time, that had besieged the country he
was ruling. Not every singer can face a battle and still be singing and
dancing. He had to select the ones that could do it. How do you sing and dance
in the midst of a raging war? Similarly, not all persons can face the storms of
life and still be joyful. For some people, the moment Mr. Landlord says, “I am
increasing your rent,” they lose their singing voice. It is unfortunate that minor
problems prevent people from attending church services.
A lady called after
me repeatedly, “Papa”! I said, “I am hearing.” She said, “Papa, is this how my
life will be?” “Where did God leave you?” I asked her. Finally, she said, “My
husband just left me like that.” So I said, “Okay, is that what you are trying to
tell me? Lets pray.” “Pray o, pray to your God now,” she said, breathing
heavily in despair and anxiety.
That is exactly how
many people are. When their neighbour ask, “Are you not going to church today?”
They say, “In this situation? What will I go there to do?”
When you have joy
in the Holy Ghost, every time is church time, every time is joy time.
Interestingly, that woman’s husband returned. Whatever you lost is coming back
to you.
Word of Wisdom: It takes the Holy Ghost to face a raging war, singing.
Prayer/Confession: In the
name of Jesus. LORD, bring it
back. (Ask him to bring back whatever you’ve lost).
