“But the ship was now in the midst of the sea tossed with waves:
for the wind was contrary.” (Matthew 14:24)
All the disciples were in the ship in the middle of the sea. The
disciples were troubled and suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water
towards them. In Matthew 14:28, when Peter saw Him, he said “Lord,
if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”.
Peter had a dream – to walk on water to meet Jesus – Jesus told
him to come. Peter got out of the boat and stepped on the word “come” and began
to walk on the water with his focus on Jesus. But when he saw the wind
boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying “Lord,
save me,” (Matt 14:30). The wind was a distraction.
The wind symbolizes the problems of life. The reason you are
facing problems is because they are satanically designed to distract your
attention from your dream. If you focus on your dream and not the problem, you
will get to your destination. It is sad to realize that there are problems of
life to make you cry secretly. Why? If you dare to cry in public, people will
see your tears and scorn you. You are probably holding back a lot of tears that
cannot be shed openly. In Job 16:20, Job said “my
friends scorn me; but mine eyes poureth out tears unto God.”
Job’s friends laughed at him because of his problems. But their
laughter did not bother him; rather he cried to God. Take your tears to God. Prophet
Isaiah in Isaiah 25:8 has this to say: “He will swallow up death in victory; and
the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces…”
Peter was distracted and he was no more focused on his dream. He looked
to the right and to the left. He saw the wind and began to sink. He did not
sink until he removed his eyes from the dream. But thank God he did not hesitate
to cry out to the Lord to save him. If you are distracted from your focus by
anything whatsoever, you can cry out today and the Lord will restore your dream
to you.
