“And the king loved Esther above all the
women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the
virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen
instead of Vashti.” (Esther 2:17)
One thing Esther did to change her world was
build a great relationship with her king. She spent all the time available to
her to study the king; to understand what he likes and what he hates. Esther
understood what could get the King angry and what would make him give up to half
his kingdom for her profit.
This was obvious in the way she approached
the king and won him over to fight Haman who had planned to destroy the Jews.
As you read this devotional, reflect on your relationship with your King - the
King of kings.
How do you relate with your King? Is it just
a “ask and you receive” kind of relationship, is it a “bread and butter” kind
of relationship were you chose to praise God only when things are rosy but you
forget Him when things do not seem so good. How is your relationship with God?
Everyone looking at you can easily conclude
that you are a Christian because of your appearance, but alone in your closet,
can God call you by name? Is God delighted in you as the king who delighted in
Esther?
Do not
worship and honor God only because of what you can gain from Him, rather, God
wants you to praise him for whom He is.Do not look at your God as a small god
because of the trials you are passing through. Be an Esther and relate with
your King for who He is because He is The
Big Enough God.
