“Meekness, temperance: against
such there is no law.” (Galatians
5:23 )
Another word for temperance is
self-control. As you grow in your Christian life, the fruit of self-control
should also grow with you. Joseph was looking at a very beautiful woman who
posed nude and enticingly on her bed just to seduce him. Yet he controlled
himself. Joseph was exercising self-control. Consequently he ended up in
prison. A sad ending you may say but that is not the end of the story.
There is more than the present
life. There is eternity to consider, particularly when you realize that
decisions determine destiny. Do not hurry to take up appointment under
questionable circumstances and thereby compromise your faith, without
considering the fact that the choice you make and the things you hold in high
esteem today determine or decide your tomorrow.
The fact that Joseph was
unjustifiably imprisoned did not divert his focus from his dream. Later, he was
promoted from prison to the palace as the Prime Minister of Egypt and both
Portipher and his wife became his subjects. This should be encouraging to you
today.
PRAYER / CONFESSION: O Lord, fill
me with the Joseph anointing so that I will always exercise enough self control
to resist any man or woman that wants to lure me into sin Amen.
