“Now there cried a certain woman
of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha... and thou knowest that
thy servant did fear the Lord and the creditor is come to take unto him my two
sons to be bondmen”
Today’s
verse of scripture is a about a certain widow who had lost her husband that
feared God but was a debtor before he died; the only thing left for the widow
was her two sons who were about to be turned to bondsmen because of the debt
owed by the late man of God, their father. Also from the above scripture, you
will discover that the widow still went ahead and sought for help from the same
prophet of God that the late husband followed and still he died a debtor. The
bible described the late prophet (the widow’s husband) as a “servant who did
fear the Lord” yet he died a pauper and a debtor whose debt was still an issue
of trouble in the life of the widow and her two sons. One question that will
come to the mind of a rational being is why did the widow cry out for help from
that same Prophet of God who couldn’t help her late husband? The answer to this
question is that the widow had trust in the same prophet of God; she believed
that he was anointed by God and that was why she received her rest and her
blessings.
Trust is a firm belief and strong confidence you place on someone. In
other words trust on a man of God is a firm belief and strong confidence you
place in him that he is anointed of the Lord to do his will and to obey the
instructions of God for the benefits of his followers/members.
The Bible
categorically stated that God will give us prophets after his own heart; a man
of God is placed as a spiritual head over you by God, to give you direction to
get you closer to God and to enable you fulfill your purpose here on earth.
This, the widow understood, she understood the significance of putting trust in a man of God that was why she was
obedient to the prophet; Trust and obedience go together. As a Christian how
much do you trust the man of God ordained by God over you? One of the tools
needed to transform your life and destiny is to put your trust in your man of
God.
Trust was
the tool Elisha had over the other prophets of Elisha that was why he was
qualified to hold the mantle of Elijah and the anointing over his life could
conveniently pass over to Elisha. Prophet Elisha had strong confidence in his
man of God and as such could partake in the anointing that was vested on
Elijah.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, give me the grace to put my
trust in your servant, the man you have anointed to be my pastor. I receive the
ability to tap from the anointing in his life that I may be who you want me to
be and give glory to your Holy name. Amen
