“And there
was famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for
the famine was grievous in the land.” – Genesis 12:10
In Gen 12:1
God said to Abram: “…get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred and from thy father’s
house, unto a land that I will shew thee”. God made a promise to
Abraham that made him leave his kindred and his country, but in Gen 12:10
Abraham found that there was famine in the land which God promised “…there was famine in the land…”
The question
that comes to mind is; how can there be famine in a land that God promised?
Ponder on the fact that God took Abraham from a land that had food to a place
that had no food. If you must follow God, you must be prepared to drop your
earthly wisdom and be as one who men will call a fool.
Abraham left
everything he was used to and came to a promised land that had a famine that
the Bible described as grievous because the land was very
dry.
There are many
people reading this devotional today who God has made promises to and every
time you seem to enter the promise it feels dry. You pray in one direction and
everything seems to be in another direction. Your surrounding situations
contradict the promise God made you, and you wondering where is God? Did God
make this promise to me? Am I serving God for nothing?
Every time you are faced with such, know this: the God who gave you the promise is faithful to perform it. Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
Prayer & Confession: Lord, let
water flow in my promise. Every dry land in my life, I command water to flow.
My miracle, happen in my promise in Jesus name.
