Yesterday, we saw
that God was interested in gathering the sorrowful to His sanctuary. There
are three reasons why God will do so? The first is, “…I will Undo all
that afflict thee”.
The
word, “undo” means “to reverse”. It also means to
make ineffective, as if it never happened. This means God will reverse the
afflictions of your enemies in your life. When God reverses a kidney disease
patient, for instance, the doctors will doubt if he/she ever had such a disease
before. If God reverses the problem in your life people will be amazed at the
turn of events. Similarly, when God reverses your financial situation, it will
appear as if you have been swimming in the pool of money/wealth from the time
you were born.
Do you remember how the king reversed Haman’s letter because of
Esther? (Esther 8:5) Jephthah is an illustration of how God can turn your shame
to praise and fame. He was a human being like you and I. He lived a
normal life and attended church regularly. Immediately after his father’s
death, however, his brothers ganged up against him and threw him out into the
streets. That was not the shame. They went ahead to reveal the hidden
identity of his life to the public. "…Thou shalt not inherit
in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman" (Judges
11:2). Remember that Jephthah did not create himself. He did not
decide to come into this world through a harlot either. None of his
defects were of his own making; yet his own brothers used them against
him. That is wickedness.
Jephthah
was so ashamed that he sought for refuge in a land very far from his home.
However, as God would have it, something dramatic happened. God was interested
in reversing his story of shame. When God reversed his shame and changed it to
fame, nobody remembered that his mother was a harlot anymore.
Prayer/Confession:
My God will undo all the afflictions of the wicked in my life and turn my shame
to fame in Jesus name, Amen
