#EaglesDevotional - WHERE IS JESUS?

“He came unto His own, and His own received Him not”                                 (John 1:11)

Christians are one body with Jesus today. “And He is the head of the Body, the Church; who is the Beginning…” (Col. 1:18). Can you separate the head from the body? If we are the body of Christ, then we are one body and the same with Him. Jesus is the Word. The Bible is the Word of God. That means you are literally carrying Jesus in your hand and in your heart.

Does this say something to you? Every time you hear a sermon or a preaching, Jesus is coming to you. Receiving Jesus or receiving Him as the Word is more than merely hearing the Word. Anybody can hear the Word. In fact, the scripture says: “…the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19). It is not hearing the Word that matters. It is receiving what you hear and building the foundation of your life on it based on the “Love factor” that motivated God to give His only begotten Son as the sacrificial Lamb for your sins.

Love is the greatest force both in heaven and on earth, when you love somebody, you will go out of your way to please that person. There is however a difference between the carnal love which gives fulfillment in sensual gratifications and the Agape type of love which is heaven bound and is eternal. This Agape love is Christ-centered and is the backbone of the church as the body of Christ. If you study the Bible, you will realize that faith and hope will stop but love is forever. (I Cor. 13:8).The church today has more of people who confess that they are Christians but are still very dry. They need to be compelled, prodded or treated nicely before they do the work of God. They certainly do not love God; because if they do, they will want to do things that will please Him, without having any room for complacency.

When you love God, that love for Him will metamorphose into passion and compassion. Compassion comes from passion. People who have no passion cannot have compassion. Love produces passion because you can only be passionate about the thing/person you love. Most Christians have no passion because they have no love for God. Some may have a bit of love for Him but because their love has no depth, it is passionless and therefore of no effect.
This accounts for why some start zealously and suddenly grow cold. There is no fire to keep their love ablaze! The fire that will keep your love for God ablaze is embedded up in His Word. Do you know that many Christians do not have depth in the work of God? They dry up before the race starts. So they become domestic pets in the church that must be nursed continually. They are like retarded babies. A carrier of Jesus ought to be alive, fervent, consistent, and faithful and be an example to other believers.

Prayer/Confession: I receive Jesus as the Truth, the Way, and the Author of life. I renew and revive my love relationship with God today.
