“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who
will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” 1 Corinthians
10:13
There are two kinds of
temptation mentioned in the Bible. The first is, “the temptation to sin” while the second is “the test and trials of life”.
Temptation when
translated from the Greek means “to test the durability of something by attempting to pierce through it”. The temptation and trials of life will test your
durability. Every Christian faces
temptations, trials and difficulties at one point in life or another but the
God will preserve you and give you victory.
You may be facing a
heavy duty temptation today; have you left your marriage because of
temptations; have you chased out you wife; are you separated from your parents
or loved ones; have you sold your car or house as a result of temptation?
Temptation comes in
different forms and sometimes, it makes you wonder where God is because it
seems your world is shattering right before you. You have cried tears as a
result of the difficulties you are facing.
Jesus said “lead us not into temptation but deliver
us from evil”. Jesus said to Peter in Luke 22: 31-32 “…Simon,
Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have
you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when
thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”.
In other words, Jesus was saying, “temptation wants
to sift you as wheat but you will stand”.
If you are facing temptation of life as a believer,
know without doubt that you will see victory at the end. Do not relent in your
service to God, He will make a way out for you. The temptation will not consume
you. The God you serve is same yesterday, today and forever. He has done it
before, He will do it again. Walk in this confidence.
Prayer/Confession: Lord, I thank you for my victory.
I shall carry my testimony in my hands. I thank you because you change not.
Your word can never fail. The evidence will manifest in my life in the name of
Jesus.
