“After the same manner also he took the
cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood:
this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me; Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread,
and drink this cup of the Lord,
unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord”
1
Corinthians 11:25, 27
The cup here represents the new covenant of
the blood of Jesus while testament means covenant. In other words, when you as
a Christian drink of the cup- the blood of Jesus, you are entering a covenant.
In 1 Corinthians 12:13, the Bible says, “For by one Spirit are we all
baptized into one body... and have been all made to drink into one Spirit”. All believers which form part of the body of
Christ are baptized into one body by one spirit and we drink into one spirit.
When you give your life to Christ, you enter into a covenant of the blood of
Jesus and also into a covenant relationship with other believers.
When you do things that does not glorify God; when
you relate unworthily with other believers, you are breaking the covenant.
In verse 27, the Bible says, “Wherefore whosoever shall eat
this bread, and drink this cup
of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord”.
This bread means the body of Christ. What this
verse infers is, many believers are guilty
because they have broken covenant. This does
not only apply to Holy Communion.
Every time we come together, we eat and drink
of the body and the blood.
Christians are breaking the covenant every day
and they think it does not matter; there is a price to pay. If you are in the
habit of breaking covenant relationship, it is very spiritual and it would
affect your destiny.
If you jilt people, cheat, betray, hurt,
disappoint people, you are breaking the covenant relationship and your destiny
cannot be fulfilled. Be practical and examine your self today. In verse 28-29 , the Bible says, “But let a man examine himself, and so let him
eat of that bread, and drink of
that cup for he that eateth and
drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning
the Lord's body”.
Do not play with covenant. When you break
covenant, you make the body of Christ weak and bring damnation unto yourself.
Prayer/Confession: O Lord, I ask for your
mercy in any way I have broken covenant. Open the eyes of my understanding that
from today, I will never take the covenant of my faith and my covenant
relationship with other believers for granted. Help me Lord to be all that you
have created me to be in the name of Jesus.

Words of Wisdom: All believers which form part
of the body of Christ are baptized into one body by one spirit and we drink
into one same spirit.
