#EaglesDevotional - DAVID, A MAN AFTER GOD’S HEART

“ And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle”                                      1 Samuel 17:20.

In the above scripture, you would notice two things about David.
1. He rose up early. This means David was not lazy. Laziness will lock up your destiny. It will take you in a different direction.  Every supernatural idea that God gives to you, if you are lazy, it will never profit you. It will never materialize. A lazy man has a lot of desires but no work to back it up. You cannot fulfill your destiny if you are lazy.

The Bible says in  Proverbs 13:4, “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat”.  In Proverbs 20:4, the bible says, “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing”. In Proverbs 10:4, "He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich." If you are a lazy person, rise up today and change your ways if you must fulfill destiny. Proverbs 6:9 says, "How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?"

2. The 2nd thing David did in the scripture above was, he looked for a temporary caretaker to keep the sheep for him. He was a man of detail. He took care of the little things committed to him. David would have left the sheep untended, it was David not his father who looked for an alternative to care for the sheep. His father did not even care.

David may not have realized, but God was preparing him for bigger things. You will miss God if you are not faithful in simple natural things.

How do you handle the work of the ministry? If you want to see your destiny fulfilled, you must learn to take care of the little things committed to you not only in the church but also in the circular world. If you are a careless person, you will not know when God passes you.

Prayer/Confession: In the name of Jesus, I ask that the word of today will profit my life. Give me the grace to live according to your words in the name of Jesus.
