“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy
children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he
keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will
not sit down till he come hither”.
1 Samuel 16:11
David was a man of Destiny. Although, he was
anointed as a King by prophet Samuel, he did not sit on the throne until about
20 years later. Fulfilling your destiny does not happen in one day. It takes a
process of time. However what you do and how you live your life daily would
determine whether you would fulfill God’s eternal purpose for your life.
David lived in four places and the four places
are significant to your destiny. Let us examine these places.
The first place David lived was Bethlehem.
That was where he was anointed.
In 1 Samuel
16:1, “the LORD said unto Samuel,
How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning
over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the
Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons”.
Imagine in your mind a prophetic conference
taking place in the house of Jesse organised by Prophet Samuel. Everybody else
was invited but the man around whom this conference was revolving was the only
one not invited.
Why was David not invited? It was not because
he was young. He was not invited because they felt David was involved in what
you may consider unimportant things; “He was keeping sheep” while his brothers
were involved in more important things; They were soldiers in Saul’s army. In those
days, everyone respected soldiers. Even prophet Samuel missed God. He thought
it was Eliab or the other brothers but God said No. God was looking beyond the
physique or how able the others looked. God was looking at David’s commitment
to natural things.
Have you ever been in situations where even
people whom you thought would believe in you look down on you? Have you ever
felt let down or left out because of your services to God?
God is a God who searches your heart. You will
never fulfill your destiny in circular life and in the church until you are
committed or faithful in simple things.
David was faithful in simple things. He was
faithful in looking after the sheep that was committed to his care, what people would have seen as an unimportant venture. How do you handle that thing that has been given to
you to take care off when no one is watching? It may be your job, business,
your ministry assignment, etc. Many people are missing God because they are not
faithful in simple things.
Prayer/Confession: My destiny will not be cut
short. I will live my full life and my destiny will be fulfilled in the name of
Jesus.
