“And Moses stripped Aaron of his
garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of
the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount”, Numbers 20:28.
Sin is a very potent factor in
determining the kind of life you live on earth. I must tell you the truth so
that God will not hold me responsible for your lifestyle. Let me show you
something about Aaron. The Bible says,
“And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in Mount
Hor”, Numbers 33:39. By implication, he lived three years longer than Moses but
had nothing to show for it. When you
read through Genesis to Revelation, you will hardly see any tangible
achievement of Aaron. He lived for 123
years without anything to show for it because of sin; the sin of rebellion.
Aaron was the first high priest
of Israel, he was highly exalted to be Moses’ spokesman, but Miriam persuaded
and convinced him to rebel against Moses. Instead of speaking for Moses, he
spoke against him. There are people who have convincing power, Miriam was such
kind of person. She talked to Aaron
until he was convinced to rebel against Moses.
While Moses was still on top of the mountain talking to God for forty
days and nights Aaron had already been convinced to rebel against him. He gathered the people and made a god with
their jewelries to worship. There was
jubilation in the camp. When Moses heard
the sound of the people, God told him that the sound of joy from the camp is as
a result of the rebellious act of his brother who had turned the heart of the
people against God. This act of Aaron destroyed his achievements as a priest
and he was stripped naked and died a disgraceful death. Sin can strip you naked
and destroy your achievements.
Prayer /confession: Lord, anybody
around my life trying to convince me to rebel against constituted authority,
locate such a person(s) and remove them from my life, in Jesus name.
