“By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that
believed not, when she had received the spies with peace”, (Hebrew 11:31).
When the Bible says a person is a harlot, it implies that
such a person is an enemy of God. “Harlot”
is one of the strongest descriptions in the Bible for a sinner and an enemy of
God. When you study the Bible, you discover that the word “harlot” is not
limited to women; the word is used to describe men, cities and nations as well.
Let me quickly say that the fact that one is a harlot does not mean that he/she
cannot become a friend of God.
Rahab the harlot, had her name mentioned in the halls of
faith, because she changed and accepted Christ. When you study Matthew 1:5,
you will see that she was of the lineage from which Christ came, meaning a
harlot was in the biological lineage of Jesus. In other words, one is not
separated from God because of what he/she did yesterday. Everybody did something wrong yesterday, but separation from
God happens when you refuse to change.
Rahab was in the lineage of Christ because she changed from
being an enemy of God to a friend of God. You too can change today to be the
friend of God because God is interested in you.
Prayer/Confession: In the name of Jesus, i repent of my wrong doing,
Cleanse me Lord from my secret errors. I receive the grace to live a righteous
life today that i will inherit the kingdom.
