#EaglesDevotional - THE GLORY OF THE PAST

And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him”( Judges 16:20).

When you know God, you carry His glory in you. You may be having attacks from the enemy it does not matter, if you know whom you carry, the enemy will bow to you. It may come from the East, West, North or South in any form or by any means, the glory of God in you can withstand the devil. You do not serve a dead God. You serve a living God who is the same yesterday, today and forever. You carry in you the power that can produce your needs. You carry in you, strength, riches, splendor, and honour. Never doubt  and take for granted what you carry.

Let me ask you one question: Are you sure that the glory of God is still in you?
In Judges 16, Samson thought he was sure of what he carried and went on to shake himself up as usual only to discover that the glory of God had left him. Similarly, in Luke Chapter 2:42-46, Joseph and Mary went with Jesus to the temple at Jerusalem. When they finished all the rituals and were returning home, verse 44 tells us that they journeyed for a whole day supposing that Jesus was with them. At that time, Jesus was twelve years old and his parents lost him. They merely assumed He was with them. In like manner, many people, after they have been Christians for a while begin to take God for granted, supposing that He is always there for them. They stop praying, reading their Bibles or seeking the face of God. They believe that because God was with them yesterday, He is still with them. They are living in past glory.
The mercies of God are new every morning. The glory of yesterday cannot take you through today, you need to constantly renew your relationship with God to constantly experience His glory.

Prayer/ Confession: O Lord I seek your face, do not turn your face away from. By the power of the living God I pray that my relationship with you be renewed, that I will constantly experience your Glory in my life. That men will know that I carry God in me.
