“.. Now the works of the flesh are manifest,
which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
Paul, inspired of God, declared in the scriptures
above that they people who get involved in the things listed above cannot
enter/inherit the kingdom of God. What would heaven be like if filled up with
adulterers, and fornicators, and idolaters, with the proud and envious, and
with murderers and drunkards? To call such a place heaven, would be an abuse of
the word. No one could wish to dwell there.
There are some believers in the church who are
addicted to one/some of these vices.(the works of the flesh) No matter how much
they hear the teachings of Christ, they still go back; they are struggling and
suffering with the works of the flesh. Some of these persons are in
ministries/departments in church. If you are one of such, you must understand
that it is a spiritual struggle and the only way for you to overcome is by
being determined in your heart to overcome, then leaning on the spirit of God
for strength. Examine your life, no one who manifest any of
the works of the flesh will inherit the kingdom of God. The bible says in 1
Corinthians 15:50 “Now this I say,
brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth
corruption inherit incorruption”.
Check yourself and change your ways, do not be
part of those persons who are sitting on the fence, they come to church yet are
controlled by the flesh. People who do the work of God but they still envy,
murder people with their mouth and the sword, engage in adultery, fornication,
etc. if you are such, you will not enter the kingdom of God. Your works and
sacrifices will not be recognized by Heaven. Let the spirit of God permeate your spirit today. Let God’s spirit lead you. You have a choice today, only you
can determine what influences you, either the flesh or the spirit of God. Rise
up and take authority over the flesh. Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”.
Prayer/Confession:
Father in the name of Jesus, reign in my life,
let my life be influenced by your spirit to overcome the works of the flesh. I
overcome sin in the name of Jesus. I shall work in victory.
