“Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall,
and prayed unto the Lord, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech
thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have
done that which is good in thy sight.
And Hezekiah wept sore”. Isaiah 38:2-3
In the passage above God sent prophet Isaiah to
inform King Hezekiah to put his house in order. God did not send prophet Isaiah
to pronounce a judgment of death on King Hezekiah. In verse 1, King Hezekiah
was sick unto death. There are some sicknesses that do not need a prophecy to show
that they would end in death except by the intervention of God. God sent
prophet Isaiah to give King Hezekiah an information. In other words, God was
saying to King Hezekiah, because I love you, put your house in order so that if
you die, your house would not be in disarray.
Immediately Isaiah said it and left, King
Hezekiah turned to the wall and began to pray. The first thing he said was,
“remember now, O Lord...” In other words, what he was saying was, “O Lord, do not
remember my yesterday, remember now, my today. Yesterday I did not serve you
but today my life has changed. Yesterday was a mess but do not remember my
yesterday, remember me now.
If you did wrong yesterday, if you can confess it
to God and repent of it, God will forgive you. Let your yesterday not control
your today. God will not remember your yesterday, He will remember now. Some persons cannot go forward in life because of
what they did wrong yesterday. Jesus said., to the woman who committed adultery.
“...neither do i condemn you, go and sin no more...” in other words, Jesus was
saying, “woman, what you did yesterday that everyone is condemning you for, I forgive
you but today do it no more”.
In Psalm 25:7, David said, “O Lord, remember not
the sins of my youth...” In Psalm 79:8, David said, “remember not against us
our former iniquities...”
As you read this devotional, if you are sincere
today, confess your wrong doings and turn away from them, God will wipe them
away. If you turn your back on it, God will start afresh with you. Do not
harden your heart. Change your ways today. In the name of Jesus, your yesterday
will not control your today. God will begin with you again.
Reject your yesterday, let God begin with you
again.
Prayer/Confession: O Lord,
remember me now. Do not remember the sins of my fathers, forgive me. Remember
me now, O Lord in the name of Jesus.
