“He
that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him
that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst
of the paradise of God”. Revelation 2:7
In
the Bible, the words: overcome, overcometh and overcame appeared 33 times but
in the book of Revelation, eight times, Jesus mentioned ‘the overcomer’ and the
blessings that goes with the overcoming spirit. So He says, “He that hath ear,
let him hear what the spirit says”…then He said, “…to him that overcometh, will
I give to eat of the tree of life
"which is
in the midst of the paradise of God”. Here, Jesus is not talking to anybody but to
overcomers only.
You
cannot be an overcomer until you overcome something. To get a crown, you must
overcome the cross; to get victory, you must overcome battle; to get a miracle,
you must overcome a problem/challenge.
You
must determine to be an overcomer for God loves the overcomer and wants you to
be an overcomer. He created man to be an overcomer. In Genesis 1:28, God said
to Adam and Eve, “…subdue the earth and have dominion over the earth. In other
words, God was saying, overcome the earth; overcome your circumstances and
situations.
If
you want to have the best of God, you must learn to be an overcomer. You are
not to bow to the devil or the works of the devil neither are you to bow to
pressures of life. Whatever you may be going through, God has given you power
to overcome you an overcomer. God put a fighting spirit within you. You are not
weak. God removed the weak spirit from you the day you gave your life to Jesus.
He said, I will give you to eat of the tree of life, but you must be an
overcomer.
Some
persons do not even realize that they have what it takes to be an overcomer.
There are many good Christians who have turned their backs on God probably
because they faced a problem and cried to God but did not get an answer. They
thought that was the end and gave in. Many Christians have backslided because
they do not realize that there is a power within them that is greater than the
devil in the world. Do
not give in, do not give up, do not throw in the towel or turn your back to
God. Be an overcomer today.
Prayer/confession: I have decided to overcome. Satan,
sickness, problems, you cannot overcome me. I have decided to be an overcomer. Every
foul spirit that has dominated my life, I command you, come out, loose in the
name of Jesus from my body, job, marriage, business. I command you with the
overcoming power of Jesus. Praise him today.
