"…the word of the Lord came
to Elijah in the third year; saying, Go, show thyself to Ahab: and I will send
rain upon the earth" (I Kings 18:1).
After three and a half years of
famine, God gave Elijah a dream. The dream was that God will send rain upon the
earth. It can be deduced from the scripture above that God was saying to
Elijah: "If you show yourself to Ahab, I will send rain upon the earth.”
Elijah did show himself to Ahab;
still, there was no rain. The famine in the land continued. This should serve
as a profound lesson to believers. Sometimes, you have done all you are
supposed to do or have done, yet there is no evidence of the manifestation of
your dream. Sometimes you have out of frustration and disgust said certain
things you ought not, to have said as a child of God. Many people have, in such
unguarded moments, asked God to kill them because they are fed-up with life!
This is not an indication that God is not sovereign. God is still God anytime,
anywhere and everywhere. But does it mean that God has forgotten you? The
answer is "NO". God cannot forget you.
God did not forget Shedrach,
Meshach and Abednego. When they were to be thrown into the fire, they did not
give up on their dream. They were not discouraged. Shedrach, Meshach and
Abednego were not hurt by the fire and they were eventually brought out of it
unscathed.
In the case of Elijah, the rain
did fall eventually. He did live to see the manifestation of his dream despite
the delay. The devil uses delay tactics to discourage you so that you will give
up on your dream. Ignore that devil and walk towards your dream courageously,
bearing in mind that for you to succeed, you must never give up. Moreover, when
the Almighty God Himself gave your dream to you, He did not take permission
from the devil. God exhorts us to be courageous. Take God seriously and your
dream will surely manifest.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: I will stand.
I will not give up on my dream. My God is not a liar. I believe in him. I don't
serve a dead God, I serve a living God. He is the same yesterday, today and
forever. I will live to see my dream manifest. Amen.
