Stock market ends six-day losing streak


The nation’s stock market closed on a positive note on Monday, for the first time in seven straight trading sessions.
The All-Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange rose slightly by 0.34 per cent to close at 37,862.53 basis points while the market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N47bn to N13.762tn.
Twenty-one stocks appreciated at the end of trading on Monday, with Lasaco Assurance Plc leading the pack as its share price rose by 5.88 per cent to N0.36.
Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc gained 4.85 per cent to close at N25.95 per share, while Sterling Bank increased by 2.94 per cent to N1.40 per share.
Vitafoam Nigeria Plc appreciated by 2.94 per cent to N3.15 per share, while Skye Bank Plc was up by 2.90 per cent to close at N0.71 per share.
Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc and 20 other stocks recorded losses at the end of trading.
Seplat shed 4.99 per cent to close at N650.80 per share, while CAP Plc dropped by 4.89 per cent to N35 per share.
Linkage Assurance Plc fell by 4.60 per cent to N0.83 per share; Prestige Assurance Plc dipped by 4.55 per cent to N0.63 per share, while Jaiz Bank Plc lost 4.48 per cent to close at N0.64 per share.
