#EaglesDevotional (THE STONE OF EMPTINESS)

“But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.” (Isa 34:11) KJV
Emptiness means lack of content. It also means devoid of anything of value. Do you know a vessel could contain many things but everything in it would be worthless? The most tragic emptiness is the emptiness of one’s soul.
The Bible says, “All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.” (Eccl 6:7) KJV Actually, the word rendered appetite should have been SOUL.
Jesus explains it better in the New Testament when He said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36 & 37) KJV
Jesus was saying in other words, “If you have everything but do not know or fear God, your soul is empty, and if your soul is empty, everything you have is of no value. Jesus was saying, ‘gather everything you have in this world, add to it the manifestation of all you can dream of having, and multiply the sum by infinity, the outcome will still not be worth your soul.
I like good things but if it comes to choosing between my soul and all the good things of life, I’ll choose my soul. One of the things that pitches itself against God in competition for our attention in all mention is the need for material acquisition.
WORDS OF WISDOM: All profiting is nothing if you cannot make heaven
PRAYER/CONFESSION: Father, remove emptiness from my life and make me a vessel of Soul winning for you this year, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
