Osinbajo appoints INEC commissioners for 14 states


The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday approved the appointment of new Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission in 14 states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bolaji Adebiyi, the appointment of the 14 new RECs, which takes an immediate effect, was also confirmed by the Senate.
From the list, Prof. Godwill Obioma becomes the REC for Abia State, while James Apam takes charge in Benue State. Dr. Nwachukwu Orji, Dr. Iloh Chuks and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda are appointed for Ebonyi, Enugu and Plateau states respectively.
Others are Umar Ibrahim (Taraba); Emeka Joseph (Imo); Obo Effanga (Cross River); Prof. Francis Ezeounu (Anambra); Dr. Briyai Frankland (Bayelsa); Ibrahim Abdullahi (Adamawa); Agboke Olaleke (Ogun); Hussaini Pai (Federal Capital Territory); and Alhaji Ahmad Makama (Bauchi).
The statement added that Pai was reappointed as the REC of the FCT, Abuja.
