Ex-Foursquare overseer, Badejo, wants death penalty for looters

A former General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev. Wilson Badejo, has said that applying the death penalty for people found guilty of corruption can end the vice.
According to him, “a terrible plague like corruption needs a drastic measure.”
The cleric, who is also the Visioner/Chairman, Wilson Badejo Foundation, said this on Thursday during a briefing on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the foundation in Lagos.
While reiterating his stance on the sanctity of life, Badejo said the use of death penalty could be the final measure to stop corrupt individuals from “stealing our commonwealth.”
He said, “As a preacher, I am for the sanctity of life. I am pro-life. But in spite of that, and our democracy notwithstanding, I strongly advise that we copy China, which, only last year, decided that those found guilty of high-sum embezzlement or bribe-taking should be executed.
“Maybe if we try the death penalty for corruption and implement the policy steadfastly without minding whose ox is gored, people will stop this madness called looting.
Badejo also took a swipe at lawyers who aid corrupt individuals to “confuse the judge with enough millions to make him turn the law on its head. In the end, corruption wins and Nigeria loses.’’
