“Love not sleep, lest thou come
to proverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread” (Proverbs 20:13)
Prayerlessness is one of the strategies Satan uses to cut short a man’s life and to attack the things that
give him satisfaction. The word satisfaction simply means “to be fulfilled.” It could also mean “setting goals and achieving them." When you are not a man or woman
of prayer, Satan can easily rubbish your achievements. The Bible says, “Love
not sleep, lest thou come to proverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be
satisfied with bread” (Proverbs 20:13). The word “bread” represents
achievement. In other words, when you are not prayerful, it is obvious that you
are inviting poverty. “And He cometh and findeth them sleeping and
saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? Couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch
ye and pray lest ye enter into temptation” (Mark 14:37-38). You must
deal with the flesh to avert temptation. The only way to avoid being
rubbished by the devil is to be prayerful. When you allow the flesh to control
your prayer life, be sure of diverse temptations. The spirit may be willing but
if the flesh is weak there is little or nothing you can do.
The devil does not want you to pray so he will do everything
possible to ensure you become physically exhausted. You need to deal with your
body through physical and spiritual exercise to avoid falling asleep. A lot of
people who claim they are Christians cannot pray when they are asked to do so.
If you can’t pray in Church, it implies that at home you don’t pray at all. You
simply sleep in the place of prayer. Prayerlessness can make a man sleep all
night. Most Christians, even ministers of God, are sleeping on the altar of
God. I must warn you that it is very dangerous. Christians no longer fear God.
How can someone who calls himself or herself a Christian, Pastor
or whatever title you bear still commit fornication on the altar? Some
ministers of God cheat, while some church members are killing one another. Other Christians are backstabbing each other. God sent me to warn you to repent
from such deeds before you run out of His grace. Don’t sleep on the altar of
God. In other words, stop fornicating in Church. Desist from adulterous
lifestyle because it will only land you in trouble. Jacob awoke from his sleep.
My sincere prayer for you is that God will give you the grace to arise to the challenges
of life and stand out.
