"And
David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and
Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the
people, and also in the sight of Saul's servants". (1 Samuel 18:5)
From today’s
verse of scripture we would be talking about the man David and his most
significant attributes that made him different from King Saul. The Bible
described David as a man after the heart of God; he was set above his brethren
and even above King Saul and his household because he had an incredible
character and nature that made God to respond in his favour.
For a better
understanding of the true nature David an insight on the meaning of the name
David is very important, the name David could be referred to as “The Beloved" which simply means a
person who is dearly loved. The act of subjecting one's will in total obedience
to the instruction of another ignites the expression of love in other words the
fruit of love been manifested is as a result of the seed of obedience sown into
the life of the other expressing such love.
The Bible said that David was faithful to King
Saul, ensured that every errand that needed to be done for King Saul was done
and the Bible went further to state that he did the bidding of King Saul
successfully and wisely. From the above scripture, one key point to pick out is
that for man to be called the beloved he must be faithful and obedient to the
calling of his master. One question you should ask yourself is “whether
you have the right standing to be called the Beloved of Christ?” for you to be called the beloved of God
you need to sow the seed of obedience to God’s words in everything that you do.
There is blessing when you give yourself up in total obedience to the precepts of the Lord, David planted the seed of obedience in all his dealings that he was set above the children of Israel to reign as King over them. The moment you have this understanding of the power of obedience the word of God will begin to work for you.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Father in
the name of Jesus, my life will be a demonstration of obedience to your words,
create in me a life of obedience, I surrender my will in total obedience to
your instruction. Amen
