“And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan
the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam” (2 Samuel21:19)
The third
giant that attacked David, his name is not mentioned, the Bible only tells us
that his staff or the handle of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, do you know
how long that stick is?, people who weave clothes use one or two sticks to
weave, the Bible says the place where this giant holds to throw the spear is
the length of a weaver’s beam, the average weaver beam would be between four
and five foot tall. In other words the handle or the portion of the spear where
this giant holds to throw it is as tall as a person who is 5 foot tall. Now if
the portion that he holds/grab is that length imagine how gigantic the giant
is.
This giant is called a giant of destruction, anything he meets he
destroys; there is no way humanly speaking by which you can fight this giant.
How do you fight this kind of man?
Battle of this kind is hopeless. It is a spirit of destruction, that
is a key attribute of the Devil, the Bible says in john 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:..”
I want you to look at the life of Job, the Bible
say thieves came and stole some of his property, in a few day fire came and burnt the
remaining of his property in another few days his children gathered together in a house and a strong wind came and
collapsed the house from the four corners of the building, this is the hand
work of the spirit of destruction, suddenly job woke one morning he had boils from his head to his toes to destroy his body. His wife looked at him and said “Job curse
God and die” friends looked at him, they said “Job you are a sinner” This could have caused frustration to set in.
What is the purpose of frustration to destroy, why do you think
people commit suicide? They commit suicide out of frustration.
When you
look at yourself and your situation, do you see hope? Are you fed up to the point when you say
that it is better to die than to live? do not give in to the spirit of
destruction, you are bigger than this giant do not allow his size- the size of
your problems to over shadow you for God is on your side, power is on your side. Today you will not die there is a mightier
power than the destroyer, Jesus the son of the living God he will take over the
life of the giant. Still on John 10:10 for Jesus “came that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly”. There is
power to destroy the giant the God whom you serve is the same yesterday, he is
the same today, He will kill the giant.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: In the resurrected name of Jesus, I declare, you spirit of
destruction hovering round my life, job, business and destiny, I destroy you in
the name of Jesus. I speak life into my life, life into my job and finance I
can never be shaken.
