#EaglesDevotional - YOU ARE A PART OF THE BODY – 2

“If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body...”
1 Corinthians 12:17-19

We are still studying on the body of Christ. As believers, we are all part of the body of Christ though we are different members. i.e, we have different gifts and abilities to function in the house of God.
The scripture above says, “If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling...”

What this scripture implies is that many believers want to offer their service as members of the body in their own space. They want to do their own thing. They are concerned only about the service they have to offer and nothing else matters to them. They say “it is me and Jesus only”. But what Paul is saying is that, it cannot be you and Jesus alone. You are part of a body and involved in a body, it is a body ministry. If the whole body were an eye, where would the nose be? We are expected to work together.

In verse 18, the Bible says, “But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him”. It is God who set the members in the body as it pleases Him not you. As a believer, it is God who set you in that church where you are today. It was not your own doing. You being in your local assembly is not your own doing. God has a part in you being there because you have a place there. He alone knows your destiny, so he sets the members (believers) in places connected to their destiny as it pleases Him not you. God does not take permission from you, He decides where he wants you. That is why you must stay where God has set you. Do not for flimsy reasons leave where God has set you if you must fulfill your destiny.

One thing the devil does is to use offence to drive people away from where God has set them. You must be very careful and sensitive as a believer. His grace is not available for you in a place where He has not set you. Identify your place and function in the place where God has set you, your destiny will gradually be revealed.

Prayer/Confession: O Lord, I will not miss my set place. I refuse to be in the wrong place at the right time or the right place at the wrong time. I will function in the capacity you have placed me and your name will be glorified through my life in the name of Jesus.
