“Wherefore
take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand;
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God” Ephesians 6:13,17.
This sword of the spirit
symbolizes the word of God. Every weapon God gave us for protection is
defensive. Only the sword of the spirit is offensive.
In Hebrews 4:12, the word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart.

The word of God is a
sword. God gave it to us to fight the devil. With this weapon in our hand, we
are to pursue the devil. When you face the devil with the word of God, God
stands with you. You will notice that in
all the weapons of Armour God gave to us in Ephesians 6, there was none for the
back because God does not expect you to run from the devil. If you turn back,
the devil will defeat you. God put a weapon in your hand, you are not to wait
for the devil to pursue you, you are to pursue the devil.
In Matthew 4:3-7, Jesus had just finished prayer and fasting
and the devil appeared to him and said to him, command this stone to become
bread and eat because he knew Jesus was hungry. You know what Jesus did? He
drew out his sword, the word of God and said, man shall not live by bread alone
but by every word that comes out from the mouth of God. Three times Jesus was
tempted by the devil but every time, He dew out His sword and fought the
temptations. The Bible says and the devil left Him for a season. After the
devil left Him, angels came and ministered unto him.
When you face the devil,
sickness, delays, etc with the word of God, you are not alone, God stands with
you, angels are around you. When you fight, God fights with you. Power is on
your side, Heaven is on your side, victory is on your side. The Holy Ghost is on
your side. Do not let the devil trick you. The protection of the Lord is upon
you. The angel of the Lord encamps around those that fear Him.
Prayer/Confession: Satan,
I attack you with the word of God. (recite a scripture that answers your
situation). I cut you with the sword of the spirit.
