#EaglesDevotional -- WALK ON THE WORD – 2

“But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me” Matthew 14:30.

Every time, you try to walk on the word of God, the devil will give you another word to counteract the word.
In the scripture above, as Peter was walking on the word of God, the devil told him, Peter, look at your right, you see the wind, you will die and as Peter looked, he began to sink.

In Genesis 3:3, Adam and Eve were living on the word of God but in verse 3:4, the devil gave them another word. God said to them, if you eat, you will die, the devil said, if you eat, you will not die.
In Luke 4, the devil said to Jesus, if you are the son of God, make these stone turn to bread, Jesus said, man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
In verse 10 and 11, the devil gave Jesus a word through the word of God. He said…the word says, “For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone”.
Thank God Jesus was not like the first Adam who fell. He gave the devil back His word.

You may be believing God for a better life, healing, promotion, blessing in your body, one thing or the other and God gave you a word, you are believing God’s word that His word can never fail but the devil is telling you, God cannot do it, God cannot heal you, bless you, etc and you say Heaven helps those who help themselves. It is a lie. Heaven cannot help you if you can help yourself. Heaven can only help you if you can’t help yourself. Peter said to Jesus, Help me.

When Peter looked to the right and left, he took his eyes from the word, missed his steps and stepped on the water. When you step on the water of life without the word to support you, you will sink.
The devil will give you many words but the word of God is enough. Hold on to it.

Prayer/Confession: I believe I will not sink for I have a God who never fails. I will get to the other side.
